Week 12-- session 11

Since last week was the last lesson rounding up the past 10 weeks of intensive drilling of technology and world change, we have entered this week with anticipation of watching different groups presenting on their web pages. It is fascinating for to watch and learn the different ways of presentation people use to bring across certain idea to the floor. The groups that presented touched on cryonics, music, health and physically challenged.

All the presented topics were eye openers as they touched on issues that are fascinating especially the cryonics. It brought medical science and technology to another level where people dream of prolonging their life. Definitely, this topic is controversial juxtaposed to that of cloning. People always believe that immortality is only achievable once the person is enlightened and ascend to be a god. Hence, several people will definitely object to this idea and most probably this idea will only be feasible to the rich. Come to think of it, it will be very funny to wake up and realize ones is in the generation of his grandchildren while his children were all dead. Waking up in bewilderment and finding yourselves alive with all your relatives and friends dead is so lonely and sad. With technology advances rapidly, things will certainly be different 15 years from now. Hence, it will pose as a problem to adapt to the changes.

Another group talks about the floating HDB flats or the evolution of the way buildings are built in the future. These ideas astonish me. It is so amazing to think of yourselves staying in a floating mechanical platform that brings you all around the world. Furthermore, it uses renewable energy to generate electricity and transport wise i would suppose are vehicles that we have never seen before. It could just be like those cars that can suspend in the air or robots that could walk on water.

The world is changing with people starting to treat scenes in the movie as feasible plans. Robots and technological advancement have allowed humans to think beyond their own capabilities now. However, people way of living will change as there could be robot and human marriage in the future. It depicts a guy who is so obsessed over his virtual girl that he has to bring it along with him anywhere he goes. In the end, he was living in the virtual world and avoided making friends of the opposite sex in the real world. This is totally unhealthy way of behaviour as technology is supposed to help us with networking and aid us in the different chores we are doing rather than destroying our normal behaviour.

I would rate today class 7/10 because i have learnt quite abit from my classmates and seeing their efforts pay off. The next lesson would be an exciting one because my group will be presenting.
